Patrick Neary, PhD has worked as an Applied AI/ML Researcher at SandboxAQ since 2022. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory from 2019 to 2022, where they worked on machine learning projects including image classification in satellite imagery and anomaly detection in hyperspectral images. Patrick was responsible for the satellite image processing pipeline and trained a classification model for image classification. Patrick also worked as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Space Dynamics Laboratory from 2008 to 2019, and as an Electrical Engineer at Motion Control, Inc from 2007 to 2008. Patrick started their career as an Embedded Software Engineer at MicroBioSystems from 2003 to 2007. Additionally, Patrick worked at Spendlove Medical Research Institute as a Software Engineer and IT Manager from 1999 to 2003, where they initially started doing temp work and later implemented computer networking.

Patrick Neary, PhD, holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from Utah State University, which they obtained from 2014 to 2020. Prior to their doctoral studies, they pursued a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the same university from 1999 to 2006. In addition to their academic degrees, Neary has obtained a certification in "Leading Complex Projects" from Emeritus in April 2023.
