Sandy Springs Police
Cole Knaup is an experienced law enforcement professional currently serving as an Officer with Sandy Springs Police since April 2023. Prior to this role, Cole served as a Trooper and Recruit with Michigan State Police from June 2017 to April 2023. Cole's earlier experience includes positions in campus safety at Adrian College, a summer internship with Michigan State Police, and groundskeeping at Jackson College, where responsibilities included maintaining athletic fields and event support. Cole started the career journey at Country Market Grocery as a Bagger, focusing on customer service and store organization. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Adrian College and a high school diploma from Columbia Central High School.
Sandy Springs Police
The Sandy Springs Police Department (SSPD) was created in 2006 and serves the community with 148 sworn officers. Sandy Springs Police Department Operations are coordinated by two districts: North and South. The districts are commanded by the patrol Captain who is supported by Lieutenants. The patrol division is complemented by specialty units including Street Crimes Unit (SCU), Traffic Unit, Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). The SSPD has several specialty vehicles and equipment including the river response boat, Rhino ATV units, river kayaks, and an armored vehicle for tactical response.
