Elizabeth Awbrey, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-SCP, SPHR, currently serves as the Director of Human Resources and Risk Management for the City of Sandy Springs since October 2024. Previously, Elizabeth held the position of Human Resources Director for the City of Johns Creek, Georgia, from December 2021 to October 2024, where responsibilities included overseeing people operations and risk management. A notable accomplishment in this role involved revamping retirement benefit plans. Prior to their municipal roles, Elizabeth was the Director of Human Resources at Cherokee Town and Country Club, where leadership extended to management of HR teams and comprehensive HR programs. Elizabeth's career also includes significant experience at WNS Global Services, The Home Depot, and various paralegal positions, demonstrating a robust background in both human resources and legal support. Elizabeth earned a BS in Political Science and Government from Berry College between 1997 and 2000.
