Gene Hasegawa

Gene has more than 30 years of administrative experience at UC San Diego where he was most recently the COO for Health Sciences, serving as a Principal Advisor, Operational Implementation Officer, and key strategic partner in major initiatives to the Vice Chancellor. He was also responsible for core functional areas including academic affairs administration, affiliate and industry affairs, basic biomedical research administration, clinical and translational research administration, business contracting, business resource management, planning and space management, professional schools' shared services, and general operations.

On a national level, Gene served as the Principal Business Officer representing the UC San Diego School of Medicine to both the Group on Business Affairs and the Group on Institutional Planning of the American Association for Medical Colleges.

Born and raised in San Diego, Gene received his undergraduate degree from UC San Diego.
