Barbara Vandonslear's work experience begins in 2001 as a Registered Nurse at Mease Countryside. Barbara then joined UnitedHealth in 2002 as an Inpatient Care Advocate. In 2006, they joined Sanford Health Plan and held various positions including Case Manager, Worksite Wellness Team Leader, and Care Management Manager. Finally, in 2015, they became the Director of Care Management at Sanford Health Plan.

Barbara Vandonslear obtained a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Sioux Falls from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they received an Associate of Arts degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Western Iowa Tech Community College in 1993-1994. Barbara also completed a diploma in Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training at Northwest Iowa Community College. In addition to their formal education, Barbara obtained certification as a Certified Case Manager (CCM) from the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) in November 2015.
