Andrew Lyon

Andrew Lyon has an extensive work experience in both academia and the private sector. Andrew began their career in 1999 at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they served as Chair of the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Professor, and Associate Chair. In 2014, they moved to Chapman University, where they currently serve as Founding Dean of the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering. In this role, they have led the strategic planning, development, programming, launch, and rapid acceleration of Chapman's first entry into engineering education and research. Andrew also played a key role in the design, programming, outfitting, and occupancy of the Swenson Family Hall of Engineering. Additionally, they served as Dean of the Schmid College of Science and Technology, where they developed and directed an ambitious plan to reorganize and grow the college. Andrew also recruited more than 25 new faculty and grew enrollment by 20%. In 2015, they joined the Board of Directors of the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation and OCTANe OC. In 2017, they joined the Board of Directors of Tarbut V'Torah Community Day School and Split Rock Therapeutics, LLC. In 2018, they became a Goalkeeper Coach for the Pateadores Soccer Club, and in 2014 they began serving as Assistant Coach for the Varsity Boys Soccer team at Arnold O. Beckman High School.

Andrew Lyon received their Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Rutgers University in 1992 and their PhD in Chemistry from Northwestern University in 1996.
