Lauren Benjamin

Lauren Benjamin has over 17 years of work experience in the human resources and recruitment field. Lauren began their career as a Recruitment Secretary at Robert Walters in 2003 before moving on to work as a Recruitment Administrator at Barclays Capital and ABN AMRO Bank in London. In 2005, they joined Quest Staffing Solutions as an Account Manager, where they managed contingency staffing accounts for various clients. In 2007, Lauren joined Coronation Fund Managers as an HR Consultant, providing talent management services to the asset management industry. Lauren then transitioned to Sanlam Investments in 2010, where they held various roles including Head of Recruitment, HR Manager, and most recently, Head of Human Capital. In their current role, they lead a team of HR professionals and is a member of the Sanlam Investments Executive Committee.

Lauren Benjamin has a diverse education history. Lauren obtained a Diploma in Practitioner Coaching from The Coaching Centre (TCC) Integral Africa from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they attended the University of Cape Town from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a B.Comm degree in Economics and Law. Before their university studies, they attended Livingstone High School from 1995 to 1997 and Norman Henshilwood High School in 1993 and 1994. In addition to their formal education, Lauren has pursued various certifications to enhance their skillset. Some of these certifications include Agile HR Certified Practitioner from the Agile HR Community in April 2023, Dare to Lead Trained from Dare to Lead™ Trained in November 2022, and Ontological Coaching and Leadership in Action from the Ontological Coaching Institute in November 2022. Other certifications include Effective Remuneration Committees from the Institute of Directors South Africa in November 2021, Design Thinking in Practice from the Graduate School of Business - University of Cape Town in December 2019, and Advanced Human Resources Executive Program from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business in October 2017. Lauren also completed the HR Leadership Academy from Gartner in December 2016, Depth Facilitation from The Depth Leadership Trust in August 2014, Coaching to Excellence from the Centre for Coaching in March 2012, and Certificate in Wealth Management NQF4 from InvestmentWise (Pty) Ltd in September 2009.
