Ivo van Schaik

Ivo van Schaik is the current CEO of Sanquin, a position held since October 2022. Prior to this role, Ivo served as Voorzitter Raad van Bestuur and Lid van raad van bestuur at Spaarne Gasthuis from January 2018 to October 2022. Ivo's academic career includes significant positions at AMC - Academic Medical Center, where Ivo was Chair of the Division of Brain & Senses and Professor in Neurology from April 2010 to December 2017, overseeing the Department of Neurology. Earlier experience includes practicing as a neurologist at OLVG from February 2004 to April 2010. Ivo holds multiple degrees, including a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroimmunology from the University of Amsterdam and a post-doctoral degree in Neuroimmunology from the University of Cambridge, alongside a medical degree from the University of Amsterdam. Additionally, Ivo completed a program at Harvard Business School in 2016-2017.
