Deb started their career at IBM in August 2010 as the VP of IBM Cognitive Systems Global Marketing. In this role, they were responsible for creating go-to-market strategies, coordinating global roadmaps, and refining internal and external branding strategies. Deb also mentored teams and fostered a cross-business understanding of corporate goals and values while empowering sales and business partners across the entire sales lifecycle.

Some of their notable achievements at IBM include building a digital sales pilot team in NA and EU that exceeded $17M target in only six months, and redesigning the product launch process that bundled solution offerings based on client needs to revitalize market impact.

In September 2021, they left IBM to join SANS Institute as their Chief Marketing Officer.

Deb Oenning's educational career consists of a BBA in Marketing from Lamar University, as well as various certifications from LinkedIn, IBM, and the Pragmatic Institute. These include certifications in Creativity at Work: A Short Course from Seth Godin, Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner, Design Thinking Practice, Foundations, IBM Agile Explorer, Launch, Market, PMC Level I, PMC Level II, and PMC Level III.
