Lance Spitzner has extensive experience in cybersecurity and information security spanning over two decades. Currently serving on the Board of Directors for the National Cybersecurity Alliance since August 2024, Lance previously held the same position from June 2016 to May 2018 and has been the Director of SANS Security Awareness at the SANS Institute since August 2010. Lance's expertise includes advising Attivo Networks from January 2019 to April 2022 and founding The Honeynet Project, a pioneering organization in cyber intelligence, where Lance served as President from August 1999 to September 2010. Additionally, Lance was the President and CEO of HoneyTech, focused on security consultancy, and contributed as a Senior Security Architect at Sun Microsystems. Lance's career commenced as an Officer in the Army's Rapid Deployment Force. Education includes a BS in History from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Illinois Chicago.
