Harry Betz has extensive experience in law enforcement and investigations. harry began their career as a US Border Patrol Agent with USINS in 1978 and worked there until 1985. Betz then joined US Customs, where they served as the Chief Air Tactical Enforcement/Special Agent from 1985 to 1999. In 2001, they joined the NM Attorney General's Office as a Special Agent and remained there until 2006. Betz then worked for Mosul IRAQ 1st Cav as a Senior Investigator, focusing on IEDs and terrorism, from 2006 to 2007. Most recently, they served as the Chief of Police at the Santa Ana Police Department, starting in March 2015.
Harry Betz attended St Martins College in Lacey, WA from 1973 to 1976, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. In 2000, they also attended Excelsior College in Albany, NY for a year, with a focus on their BS degree. Unfortunately, the degree name for both educational experiences was not provided.

The Santa Ana Police Department is a full service police department with a full operational jail staffed by civilian Correction Officers. Santa Ana Police Department is comprised of more than 300 officers and over 200 civilian employees. The department currently has 50 fully funded sworn officer vacancies and numerous civilian vacancies. The opportunity to join a police department where you will rapidly gain seniority has never been greater. We anticipate hiring at least 125 sworn officers over the next 3 years to fill current vacancies and anticipated retirements. The Santa Ana Police Department handles approximately 11,000 calls for service each month and provides full service operations in various divisions such as: Patrol, Traffic, General Investigations, Special Investigations, Training and others.
