Melanie von der Schulenburg

Melanie von der Schulenburg is an experienced educator and visual artist with a robust background in teaching and art creation. Currently serving as a teacher at Grade Potential Tutoring since October 2019, Melanie employs a growth mindset approach to facilitate learning through hands-on activities and online support. Additionally, Melanie has been a substitute teacher for the Santa Barbara County Education Office since January 2018, covering various subjects across the curriculum. Previous roles include a long-term position as a 5th grade teacher and after-school art instructor at Peabody Charter School Foundation and as an art teacher at La Colina Junior High School. Melanie's freelance work as a visual artist includes creating original art and exhibiting in notable venues such as the Atkinson Gallery and the Santa Barbara Tennis Club. Melanie holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from California College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with a Studio Art emphasis from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
