Desiree Herrera

Desiree Herrera is a seasoned social worker with extensive experience in case management and program oversight. Currently serving as a Social Worker - Case Manager at Santa Clara Family Health Plan since July 2020, Desiree previously held the role of Program Manager at Bill Wilson Center from March 2015 to July 2020, where responsibility included managing the Drop In Center and Respite programs for homeless transition-age youth and leading a team of 16 staff. Desiree's foundations in social work were established through positions such as Social Work Intern at Corbett Group Homes, Inc., and Santa Clara County Behavioral Health, as well as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Parisi House on the Hill. Desiree's career began as a Gang Intervention Specialist, aiding at-risk youth in exiting gang life, and academic accomplishments include a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Work from San Jose State University, along with an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Alcohol and Drug Studies from San Jose City College.
