Heather Wygant

Heather Wygant is an experienced education professional currently serving as the Science Coordinator for the Santa Cruz County Office of Education since October 2021. Prior to this role, Heather Wygant worked as a high school science and engineering teacher at San Jose High School and held various teaching positions across multiple school districts, including Mountain View High School and the Santa Clara Unified School District, where responsibilities included developing professional development programs for secondary science teachers. Heather Wygant has a strong academic background, holding a Ph.D. in STEM-Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech University, along with multiple degrees focused on geology and science education from various institutions. Heather Wygant has also served in leadership roles, including treasurer for the California Science Teachers Association and participation in school site councils.
