Secondary English Teacher at Santa Fe Public Schools

Carly Zapata is an experienced educator with over a decade of teaching in English language arts. Currently serving as a Secondary English Teacher at Santa Fe Public Schools since August 2016, Carly oversees the implementation of the 7th grade English curriculum and utilizes a data-driven approach to assess student learning, incorporating the Lucy Calkins framework. Prior to this role, Carly taught 6th grade language arts, yearbook, and ESL at Pinnacle Charter School from August 2012 to May 2015, where development of curriculum aligned with Common Core standards was a key responsibility. Carly also contributed to the rollout of the ESL program for grades 9-12 at Pinnacle Charter High School during the 2011-2012 academic year. Educational credentials include a Master of Liberal Arts from St. John's College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
