James Besante

James Besante, MD is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Santa Fe Recovery Center and holds roles as a Medical Advisor at Sonara Health, Monument, and Carle Health. James is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Carle Illinois College of Medicine, where James previously served as Fellowship Director of the Carle Project ECHO Fellowship Program and Director of the Carle Substance Use Disorders Leadership Center. Dr. Besante completed their addiction medicine fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and their internal medicine residency at Mount Auburn Hospital. Their education includes a Doctor of Medicine from The University of New Mexico School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology: Social Welfare Policy from The University of New Mexico.
