Barbara Whalen

Barbara Whalen, RHIA, CHPC has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Barbara has held various roles at Saratoga Hospital, including Director of Revenue Cycle starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Albany Med Health System as a Senior Compliance Officer from February 2022 to April 2023. Barbara also has extensive experience at Saratoga Hospital, where they had multiple roles such as Health Information Services Manager Special Projects from January 2019 to February 2022, Health Information Services Project Coordinator from June 2015 to December 2018, and Coding Specialist from November 2003 to June 2015. As a Coding Specialist, their responsibilities included inpatient and outpatient coding of medical records, assistance in implementing special projects, launching new software and procedures, and training new staff.

Barbara Whalen, RHIA, CHPC holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Health Information Management from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, which they obtained from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Health Information/Medical Records Technology/Technician from Alfred State College - SUNY College of Technology between 2010 and 2012. Barbara'seducation also includes an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Animal Sciences from Becker College, which they completed from 1992 to 1994.
