Fabian Francis

Fabian Francis is an experienced Geology Manager at Sasol, overseeing the geology of the Twistdraai Colliery since January 2009. With a strong background in mining geology, Fabian has held various leadership roles including Chief Mining Geologist, where responsibilities included managing multiple collieries, coaching geologists-in-training, and playing a key role in the start-up of Impumelelo Colliery. Previous positions featured significant contributions to exploration and risk management, as well as participation in award-winning teams for operational excellence. Academically, Fabian holds a Master’s Degree in Coal Geology from the University of Johannesburg and a BSc. Honours in Geology from the University of the Witwatersrand. Additionally, Fabian served as Vice Chairman for the Highveld Ridge SPCA and worked as a Sedimentology Tutor at the University of the Witwatersrand.
