Hilko Johannsmeier

Hilko Johannsmeier has extensive experience in the field of occupational health and wellbeing. Hilko has worked as the Head of Health & Behaviour Transformation at Sasol, where they led and developed global portfolios related to occupational health, wellness, and organisational psychology. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Health at Sasol, overseeing global occupational health services and leading the Sasol Mining people stream. Hilko has also worked as an Occupational Health Consultant at Shape Consulting, providing specialist consulting in the oil, gas, and mining industry across Africa.

Earlier in their career, Johannsmeier held the position of Senior Manager: Occupational Health at Sasol Chemical Industries, where they directed health services and led the restructuring of occupational health policies. Hilko also has experience as a Safety, Health & Environment Manager and Senior Occupational Practitioner at Sasol Petroleum Temane in Mozambique.

Before joining Sasol, Johannsmeier worked at International SOS as a Senior Coordinating Doctor, Coordinating Doctor and Chief Medical Officer, and Senior Medical Advisor. Hilko has also served as a Locum Senior House Officer at the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and as a Medical Officer in Accident and Emergencies & Department of General Medicine at the Department of Health in South Africa.

Hilko Johannsmeier holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Stellenbosch University, which they completed in 1998. Hilko then pursued a Master of Business Administration degree at the same university, which they successfully completed in 2007. Finally, they obtained a Diploma in Occupational Health from the University of Cape Town in 2010.
