Hager Shawkat, MPH, is a dedicated public health professional with extensive experience in community wellness and program management. Currently serving as the Program Director for Community Wellness at Sauti Yetu Center for African Women, Inc. since February 2015, Hager leads initiatives to provide culturally relevant health programming for African and immigrant communities in New York City. Previous roles include Program Manager at Sauti Yetu, Senior Program Coordinator at Public Health Solutions, and Clinical Research Coordinator at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Hager holds a Master of Public Health in Community Health Education from CUNY School of Public Health, Hunter College, and a BA in Psychology and Biology from Hunter College.

Sauti Yetu Center for African Women is a multi-service community based not for profit supported by volunteers, foundations and government funding to provide critical services to immigrant women, children, and families in New York City's five boroughs. With offices in the Bronx and Staten Island and five programs serving over 2500 individuals a year, Sauti Yetu's is dedicated to mobilizing African immigrant women to improve the quality of their lives, strengthen their families and develop their communities. Sauti Yetu's multilingual and multicultural staff of 48, provide direct services, public education, and advocacy to promote immigrant girls'​ safe transitions into adulthood, curbs violence in the family, and give poor and low-income immigrant women access to life skills and leadership opportunities.
