James Michael Maltby

Head Of Digital Learning at Save the Children UK

James Michael Maltby has extensive experience in the field of digital learning and technology. James Michael is currently working at Save the Children UK as the Head of Digital Learning. In this role, they are responsible for the global digital learning strategy, innovation, and organizational transformation programs. James Michael leads a team of technical staff and oversees international projects. Previously, they also held the additional responsibilities of the Head of Global Learning, where they managed learning strategy, digital projects, and provided consultancy to other international charities. Prior to joining Save the Children UK, James worked as the Learning Technology Manager at Plumpton College, where they trained and supported staff in using digital technology for teaching and assessment. James Michael also worked as a Special Educational Needs Teacher at Broomhill Bank School, where they coordinated learning technology and taught mathematics and computing. James has also gained experience as a Theatre Administrator at Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre. In addition to their work experience, they were awarded a fellowship from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 for their research on immersive technology in education. Moving forward, James is preparing to take on the role of Director at Digital Playwrights in 2023.

James Michael Maltby completed their education at Queen Mary University of London from 2010 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in Graduate Entry. Prior to that, from 2005 to 2008, they attended the University of Southampton and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Music. In addition to their academic qualifications, James also holds certifications such as Business Analysis Practitioner from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and PRINCE2 Practitioner from AXELOS Global Best Practice. James Michael is also a member of the Association for Learning Technologies.
