Chelsea Sommer

Chelsea Sommer currently serves as the Managing Director of Safeguarding at Save the Children US, where responsibilities include overseeing the National Safeguarding Team, managing safeguarding budgets, and leading the development of safeguarding policies and procedures. Previous experience includes roles as Director of Safeguarding at HIAS, where Chelsea developed safeguarding frameworks and built a global safeguarding team, and as Safeguarding Advisor at Mercy Corps, focusing on compliance and capacity building. Further, Chelsea held positions at UNHCR, conducting SGBV case management and implementing national strategies, and at the World Food Programme, conducting due diligence research related to human rights. Chelsea holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Women and Gender Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder.
