Jamil Odom

Vice President Of Literacy Strategy at Savvas Learning

Jamil Odom has a diverse work experience in the field of literacy education. Jamil started their career as an Elementary School Teacher at Perry Township Schools, where they taught from 2003 to 2012.

In 2012, Jamil joined Pearson as a Curriculum Specialist, responsible for developing curriculum materials. Jamil then transitioned to the role of a Literacy Specialist, where they provided support and guidance to educators in implementing literacy programs. Jamil later served as a Regional Literacy Specialist and a National Literacy Specialist, taking on more leadership responsibilities in promoting literacy education.

In 2019, Jamil joined Savvas Learning Co (formerly Pearson K12 Learning), where they initially served as the National Literacy Manager. In this role, they presented literacy offerings to school districts and contributed to the development of new programs and content. Jamil also played a crucial role in designing professional development offerings for teachers.

Later, Jamil was promoted to the position of Vice President of Literacy Strategy at Savvas Learning Co. In this role, they developed sales strategies to meet revenue goals and kept abreast of current teaching and learning practices in English/Language Arts classrooms. Jamil closely engaged with school administrators, reading specialists, and teachers to understand their literacy needs.

Throughout their career, Jamil has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting literacy and supporting educators in delivering effective instruction.

Jamil Odom holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Indiana University Bloomington. Jamil also obtained a Bachelor of Journalism from the same institution. In addition, they pursued Educational Leadership at the University of Indianapolis. However, no specific start or end years were provided for these educational experiences.
