Tim Cothron has extensive experience in the field of UX research and user-centered design. Tim has held various roles in different companies throughout their career.
In 1998, Tim began their career as a School Psychologist in the Madison School District #38. Tim managed Special Education services and led student problem-solving teams. Tim also generated psychoeducational reports and facilitated multidisciplinary evaluations.
In 2001, Tim joined Pearson Broadband Schools Group as a Standards Alignment Coordinator. Tim coordinated a project to align educational standards across multiple subject areas and managed contractors for standards alignment.
In 2003, Tim became a User-Centered Design Coordinator at Pearson Digital Learning. Tim initiated the User-Centered Design process for product development and established pilot sites for incorporating students and teachers into the design process.
In 2004, Tim co-founded Digital Kids LLC, a start-up focused on integrating students and teachers into the design process of educational software. Tim conducted usability studies and communicated the results through video and written reports.
From 2007 to 2008, Tim worked at GoDaddy.com as a Usability Specialist. Tim conducted usability testing and quality assurance reviews for web applications.
In 2008, Tim joined Pearson Education as a Usability Specialist. Tim conducted usability testing to identify technical and content issues before the release of educational software.
From 2009 to 2017, Tim held roles as a User Experience Research Specialist and Senior UX Research Analyst at Pearson. Tim led UX research efforts, established research processes, and participated in personas creation.
In 2019, Tim worked as a Senior Research Analyst at Pearson K12 Learning Services before joining Savvas Learning Company as a Senior UX Research Analyst. In these roles, they conducted a wide variety of UX research, including usability testing, market research, and developing journey maps and personas.
Throughout their career, Tim has used various tools and software, such as Qualtrics surveys and dashboards, Zoom, Salesforce, and Loop11.

Tim Cothron attended the University of Kentucky from 1985 to 1989, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Tim later pursued further education, completing a Master of Science degree in Education, School Psychology from the University of Kentucky from 1993 to 1995. In addition to their academic qualifications, Tim Cothron has also obtained several certifications, including "The Healing Power of Difficult Compassion," "Vulnerability: The Workplace Superpower Disguised as a Weakness," "How to Be More Strategic in Six Steps," "Critical Thinking for More Effective Communication," and "UX Deep Dive: Mapping." These certifications were obtained between 2021 and 2022 from LinkedIn.
