Neil Keown, P. Tech (Eng.)

Neil Keown, P. Tech (Eng.) has over 20 years of experience in the engineering field. Neil started their career in 1997 as a Controls System Designer at ATS Automation, where they were responsible for system design, programming, debugging, and onsite installation of industrial automation equipment. In 1999, they moved to Nortel Networks as an SMT Automation Technologist. In 2001, they joined WorleyParsons as an Instrumentation and Controls Technologist, where their duties included controls design, development of control narratives, cause and effect drawings, and I/O assignment. In 2009, they took on the role of Process Control Technologist at Cenovus Energy, where they were responsible for the on-site maintenance and support of an existing ABB DCS, as well as the development of work processes, standards, and procedures. In 2010, they joined Beta Tech Inc. as a Process Controls Technologist, where they were responsible for configuration, programming, and testing of control systems for various clients. In 2011, they became a Team Lead at Rockwell Automation. In 2013, they moved to Honeywell Process Solutions as a Project Lead/Senior Applications Technologist. Finally, in 2016, they founded Sawback Technologies Inc., where they are responsible for leading the development of Sawback Technologies Inc. offerings, as well as planning for strategy, growth, recruitment, and business/investment development.

Neil Keown, P. Tech (Eng.) completed their Electrical Engineering Technology - Computer Control degree from Confederation College of Applied Arts and Technology in 1996. In 2016, they obtained their Professional Engineering Technologist, P. Tech. (Eng.) certification from ASET | The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta. In 2021, they are currently enrolled in a Private Equity Governance program at the Haskayne School of Business.
