Charles Powell

Charles Powell is an experienced media professional currently serving as Supervising Producer for Digital Video & Social at Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia since March 2025. Previously, Charles held multiple key positions at Nine, including Social Media Lead, where oversight of the social team for 9News, The Today Show, and A Current Affair was performed, managing 20 digital journalists and producers nationwide. Notable achievements include leading digital video coverage for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and supervising the creation of over 4000 videos for the platform 9Now. Additional roles at Nine included Digital Video Shift Lead, Social Content Coordinator, Digital Journalist, and Video Editor/Archivist. Charles has also umpired for the AFL and NEAFL from March 2016 to October 2024 and served as Creative Director for the National Association of Australian University Colleges. Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Arts from The University of Queensland, completed in 2018.
