Mercedes Perezchica

Director, Community Giving- Independence At Home at SCAN

Mercedes Perezchica has a diverse work experience in the health and community development sectors. Mercedes started their career as a Research Assistant at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, where they co-authored a community assessment curriculum. Mercedes then worked as an Associate Director at Advancement Project (CA), where they managed staff and cultivated partnerships to complete planning efforts. Mercedes later served as the Director of Research and Evaluation at Youth Policy Institute, where they developed partnerships and implemented cross-sector initiatives. Mercedes then joined First 5 LA as a Program Officer, negotiating and monitoring contracts for health programs for young children. Prior to their current role, they worked as an Aging Services Program Manager at the City of Long Beach. Currently, they are the Director of Community Giving-Independence at Home at SCAN Health Plan, where they lead the development and implementation of health and wellness programs, oversees grants and sponsorship processes, and manages committees.

Mercedes Perezchica has a BA in International Relations and Hispanic Studies from Brown University, and an MPH in Community Health Sciences from UCLA.
