Matthijs Raaben

Matthijs Raaben has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Matthijs worked as a Director of Research at Scenic Biotech, where they utilized genetic suppressors to discover and validate drug targets for disease treatment. Prior to that, they served as a Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist at the same company.

Before joining Scenic Biotech, Matthijs worked at Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, where they were a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow and then a Postdoctoral Researcher. In the Brummelkamp lab, they developed a novel genetic model system for studying complex biological processes. Matthijs also conducted research on genetics in human cells through insertional mutagenesis.

Furthermore, Matthijs gained experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard Medical School, focusing on the biology of negative-strand RNA viruses and the mechanisms of RNA replication. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and completed their PhD at Utrecht University. Matthijs'sdoctoral thesis focused on illuminating coronavirus-host interactions.

Matthijs Raaben completed their VWO degree at Erfgooiers College from 1993 to 1999. Matthijs then went on to pursue Biomedical Sciences at Utrecht University, earning a B.Sc/M.Sc degree from 1999 to 2004.
