Sharmila Miller has a diverse work experience in various industries. Sharmila started their career in 2015 as an Office Production Assistant in the film and television industry, where they worked on multiple projects and handled various responsibilities. From 2015 to 2019, they also worked as an Actor, gaining experience in the performing arts field. In 2016, they briefly worked as a Professional Actor for Reebok. In 2017, they worked as an Office Production Assistant for both The Walt Disney Company and Disney ABC Television Group.
In 2019, they transitioned into the education sector and joined Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows School District No.42 as the Head of Arts Department and later became the Interdisciplinary Arts Academy Director & Drama Teacher. Sharmila continued their career in education by becoming an Emerging Scholar Scholarship Recipient for the ISSOTL: International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in 2023.
Additionally, Sharmila has experience in equity, diversity, and inclusion work. Sharmila worked as an EDI Consultant and Workshop Facilitator in 2022, aiming to facilitate conversations about anti-racism in workspaces. Sharmila also served as an Anti-Racism Teacher Guide Project Member for the Ministry of Education and Childcare in 2022, where they collaborated with other representatives to create resources for the teacher guide.
