Axel Schaefer has extensive work experience in various leadership roles in the packaging industry. Axel is currently serving as the Global Head of Marketing & Commercial Product Management - Packaging Systems at Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA since January 2021. Prior to this, they were the Head of Sales Development & Marketing EMEA at the same company from December 2019 to January 2021.
Before joining Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA, Axel worked at Mauser Packaging Solutions as the Head of Product Management International from January 2018 to November 2019. Axel was responsible for the product portfolio in Europe, Asia, and Latin America and was also a member of the Mauser International Leadership Team.
From 2013 to 2017, Axel held the position of Head of Product Group Management EMEA at Mauser. In this role, they managed the regional product portfolio, product development team, and the European roll-out of global product initiatives. Axel was also responsible for product-related communications and managed special projects.
Prior to their time at Mauser, Axel worked as a Project Manager at Mindcurv, where they were responsible for launching an e-commerce platform for a Dutch restaurant and catering provider. Axel successfully coordinated the project and received the Oracle Commerce Innovation Award in 2013.
Axel also gained valuable experience at Johnson & Johnson, where they held various positions including Program Manager New Product Introduction and Operations Manager. In these roles, they led international project teams, managed packaging design relaunches, and played a key role in improving efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Earlier in their career, Axel worked at Henkel as a Team Lead Packaging Engineering and at Berndt+Partner Consultants as a Consultant. At Berndt+Partner Consultants, they provided consulting services to packaging industry companies and trained sales teams.
Axel's work experience also includes internships at T-Systems International GmbH and Gerresheimer, where they gained practical experience in quality management, production, and procurement.

Axel Schaefer completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Jack Welch Management Institute between 2017 and 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Packaging Engineering from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences Berlin (BHT) between 1997 and 2001.
