Evelyn Hyland MacGrath is an experienced instructor in STEM education, with a background in medical microbiology and English as a Second Language teaching. Evelyn has worked as a substitute teacher in Milton Public Schools and as a Senior Medical Scientist in the Microbiology Department at Waterford Regional Hospital. Evelyn holds a Master of Science in Medical Microbiology and has extensive experience in laboratory practices and diagnostic techniques.

Science from Scientists

Science from Scientists’ mission is to teach and inspire the next generation to identify and solve real-world problems by improving Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) literacy. Our vision is to inspire students, ignite interest, and improve STEM competency with the goal of filling the workforce pipeline with talented, competent individuals. Using charismatic, real scientists as instructors, SfS complements during school curricula every other week throughout the academic year with hands-on lessons informed by MCAS and other curriculum frameworks. Where do we teach? We serve schools in the Greater Boston and Great Worcester areas in Massachusetts, as well as the San Francisco Bay area in California and the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. What do we teach? Our real, charismatic scientist instructors have developed a library of 90+ hands-on, frameworks-based STEM modules on anatomy, astronomy, biochemistry, biology, botany, cartography, chemistry, ecology, electrical engineering, forensic science, geology, materials engineering, meteorology, nutrition, physics, and statistics. Custom STEM programs tailored to your school or group: one-day, short-term, or year-long programs available.
