Dana Karls, M.Ed, currently serves as a Program Specialist for Teacher Professional Development at the Science Museum of Minnesota since January 2024. From June 2016 to December 2023, Dana held the position of Educational Programs Coordinator - STEM Lead at Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, where responsibilities included developing and managing the inaugural STEM Program for youth and significantly increasing program participation in collaboration with Saint Paul Public Schools. Prior experience includes serving as a Special Education Teacher at Centennial Park School from July 2014 to July 2016, where Dana designed curricula focused on English/Language Arts and social justice, and as a Residential Treatment Counselor at The Salvation Army from January 2013 to January 2014, providing support to teen mothers in a detention facility. Educational qualifications include a Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Language Arts from Portland State University and dual Bachelor's Degrees in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Natural Resources and Conservation from the University of Canterbury.
