Tom Arnold

Planetarium Director at Science Museum Oklahoma

Tom Arnold has been working in the field of astronomical education since 2016 when they became the Planetarium Director at Science Museum Oklahoma. In this role, they are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the facility, staff management and training, presentation development, facility upkeep and upgrade, and the selection and building of a new state-of-the-art planetarium for Oklahoma City.

From 2012 to 2016, Tom worked for Paladin Geological Services, GEOGAP, and GENESIS GeoChem as the R&D and Training Director, as well as a SME/Instructor for PETROSKILLS. During this time, they conducted research on SEM and geochemical analysis of the Woodford shale play in Oklahoma, which resulted in a paper presented at the AAPG in several meetings during 2015.

In 2014, Tom was a guest lecturer at the University of Kansas Tertiary Oil Recovery Program, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists, and the Oklahoma City Geological Society.

Tom started their career in 2007 as the Training Manager for PML Exploration Services.

Tom Arnold graduated from the University of Texas Pan American in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science (BSc). From 1978 to 1980, they attended the University of Southwestern La, where they studied Petroleum Engineering but did not receive a degree. Tom also attended the University of South Western Louisana, where they studied Petroleum Engineering, and received a Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Engineereing from the University of Southwestern LA.
