Khachatur Julfakyan has been involved in the chemistry and pharmaceutical industries since 1998. Khachatur began their career as a chemist and pharmaceutical chemist at Yerevan State University. In 2006, they became a Visiting Researcher at the Kitasato Academic Research Organization, The Kitasato Institute, where they worked under the supervision of Nobel laureate Prof. Satoshi Omura. While there, they conducted total synthesis of Malformin C, a G2 checkpoint inhibitor of cancer cells. In 2009, they became the Leading Synthetic Organic Chemist, Medicinal Chemist, and Drug Design & Development at Yerevan State Medical University Spin Off Startup "Nootropics". Khachatur was responsible for startup creation, idea generation, technology transfer, and the rational design and synthesis of novel compounds with nootropic activity. In 2011, they completed their PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Nanotechnology, Nanomedicine at KAUST. In 2016, they co-founded and became a Board Member of DigiSci LLC. Finally, in 2018, they founded and became the CEO of Scimagine.
Khachatur Julfakyan received their Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from Yerevan State University, Chemical Faculty in 2004. Khachatur then went on to receive their Research Scientist, ABD Doctorate in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Anticancer Heterocycles from the Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry after A.L. Mnjoyan in 2008. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Sciences from KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) in 2015.
