Julia Winnewisser has worked in a variety of roles in the life sciences field since 2009. In 2009, they were a Diploma Student at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, where they analyzed how microRNA-155 is involved in gene regulation during inflammation in dendritic cells. In 2010, they were a Laboratory Manager at the same institute, and a PhD student in Immunology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Műnchen. In 2015, they were a Trainee Life Science Manager at ATV GmbH and a Project Manager and Coordinator of SFB 1054 and IRTG at LMU. From 2016 to 2018, they were an Inside Sales Specialist at InSphero, and from 2018 to 2021, they were a Senior Scientist - Preclinical Translational Pharmacology and Scientist - Preclinical Translational Pharmacology at F-star Biotechnology Ltd. Currently, they are a Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist - Indication and biomarker selection at SciRhom.

Julia Winnewisser began their educational journey in 1997, when they attended Luisengymnasium in Muenchen and earned their Abitur in 2001. From 2002 to 2010, they attended The University of Freiburg and earned their Diplom in Immunologie, Biochemie, Pflanzenphysiologie, and Meteologie. In 2005 and 2006, they were an exchange student at The University of Queensland, studying Biology. From 2009 to 2010, they attended the Max-Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics and earned their Diplomarbeit in Immunologie. Lastly, from 2010 to 2014, they attended Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and earned their Dr. rer. nat, Magna cum laude in Immunologie.
