Project Managers at SCJ are energetic and skilled senior-level professionals who provide technical oversight and project management expertise on a variety of projects. Independence and initiative are critical as project managers must move projects forward with minimal oversight. This position requires skills to facilitate project development and execution, coordinate effectively with stakeholders, and supervise technical staff.

What you’ll be doing
- Working with the community. We’re looking for someone who can work with current and potential clients to make their projects a reality and the community a better place for all of us.
- Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance expectations. Create, revise, and execute project work plans, delegate responsibilities and tasks, identify resources needed, and manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes.
- Effectively communicate with coworkers and clients. Clear verbal and written communications will be an integral part of your work, including creating and delivering engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations, as well as managing project and team budgets and schedule with weekly tracking.
- Managing projects. You will work with clients and your project teams to develop scopes, fees, and schedules and negotiate them with clients. Create, revise, and execute project management plans, delegate responsibilities and tasks, identify resources needed, and manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes.
- Initiating and maintaining client relationships. To facilitate successful project completion, you will set and manage client expectations, communicate effectively to identify needs and options when project challenges arise, represent SCJ in project meetings, facilitate team/client meetings, and develop lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client loyalty and satisfaction.
- Participating in business development. You will look for new work opportunities with existing and new clients, listen for and seek out new projects that may exist or are being formulated, identify add-on opportunities as they relate to specific projects, participate in proposal development for new projects, and participate in interviews and presentations as needed.
- Providing oversight of project staff. You'll develop design alternatives, supervise design staff in preparation of PS&E, and ensure QA/QC process is followed.
- Completing project documents. You’ll be responsible for the initiation and completion of any required documentation to support assigned projects, writing draft and final reports, developing draft reports in concert with other project team members, and reviewing deliverables prepared by the team prior to executive-level review and submission to clients.
- Mentoring and coaching design staff in the development of projects. At the same time being mentored and coached by senior- and principal-level project managers.

What you bring
- A passion for serving others, communication, creativity, and a commitment to high-quality work.
- A PE license and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
- 8+ years of progressively responsible transportation engineering experience.
- AutoCAD and/or MicroStation 3D experience. Civil 3D and/or InRoads experience would be great.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- The ability to organize and delegate.
- A healthy balance of logic and creativity.
