Brian Gates

Brian Gates is an experienced design professional with a diverse background in product design, UI management, and creative management. Brian has most recently served as the Director of Product Design at Scorpion since December 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Product Designer at the same company from May 2020 to December 2020.

Before joining Scorpion, Brian spent a significant portion of their career at Bluebeam, Inc. From January 2019 to November 2019, they held the role of Sr. Design Manager, overseeing UI and visual assets for their flagship software product, Revu. Brian transitioned to this role in 2015 from a marketing position, where they gained experience in managing creative and visual aspects of the brand. Brian also worked as a Sr. Art Director from March 2014 to September 2015 and as a Sr. Creative Manager from August 2012 to March 2014.

In these roles, they demonstrated proficiency in managing a team of designers, ensuring brand alignment, and delivering high-quality assets for various marketing campaigns. Brian has also contributed to the localization efforts of marketing and engineering assets, including translations into multiple languages. Their responsibilities have included creating and presenting prototypes, writing user stories and engineering tasks, and maintaining product style guides. Throughout their career, Brian has consistently prioritized user experience optimization and collaboration with product managers and engineers.

Brian Gates completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from California State University, Northridge. Prior to their bachelor's degree, they obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Los Angeles Mission College. Brian began their higher education journey at the University of Southern California with a focus on Computer Science, although they did not complete a degree at that institution.
