Darren Elsom

Darren Elsom serves as the Chief Operating Officer at SGN since December 2023, bringing extensive experience in the energy sector. Previously, Darren held various leadership roles at Cadent Gas Limited from May 2016 to December 2023, including Director of Hydrogen Development & Operations, where the focus was on decarbonisation, and Director of Eastern Network, responsible for energy delivery to 10.8 million customers. Additional roles at Cadent included overseeing significant capital investment as Director of Construction and managing operations across multiple regions as Head of Operations. Darren’s earlier career at National Grid spanned over a decade, covering network strategy, emergency response, and operational management. Education includes an MBA and Level 7 Diploma in Professional Consulting from the University of East Anglia and the Chartered Management Institute, respectively, along with various certifications in asset management and engineering.
