Michael Matheson MSP has served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for Falkirk West since May 1999. Michael held various prominent positions within the Scottish Government from May 2011 to February 2024, including Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care, Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Cabinet Secretary for Justice, and Minister for Public Health. Michael Matheson holds a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Queen Margaret University and a BA and Diploma in Applied Social Services from The Open University.
