Gillian Furmage is a Media Officer at the Scottish Refugee Council. Prior to this role, Gillian worked as an Audience Editor at The Independent and as a Social Media Journalist at The Times. With experience in various media roles at companies like BBC Scotland and Maverick Television, Gillian has a strong background in journalism and content production. Furmage holds a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Glasgow.
Scottish Refugee Council
Scottish Refugee Council is Scotland's national refugee charity. We provide direct support and advice, promote community integration, stand up for refugee rights and campaign for a fairer, more humane asylum system. We also provide specialist services in areas including housing and welfare, women's issues, community development, the media and the arts. We play a leading role in policy development and campaign on refugee issues to ensure that Scotland plays a full role in meeting the UK's legal and humanitarian obligations under the 1951 United Nations Convention on Refugees.
