Ian MacKay

Ian Mackay is an experienced communications controller at the Scottish Rugby Union, responsible for coordinating communication during rugby internationals at BT Murrayfield. Previously, Ian served as a transport manager for the Royal Highland Show and the Foodie Festival in Edinburgh, developing comprehensive transport management plans to ensure public safety. Ian's background includes extensive service as a police inspector with Lothian and Borders Police and Police Scotland, where critical decision-making in high-pressure situations was required. Starting as a police constable, Ian progressed through various roles, enhancing community safety and engaging with local stakeholders. Early career positions included roles as a bank officer and part-time barman, which helped develop strong communication and management skills. Ian is now seeking a new challenge in the Edinburgh/East Lothian/Midlothian area.
