Kirsten Reimer has a diverse work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Scribe Therapeutics. From 2016-2021, they were a PhD Candidate at Yale University, where they used novel RNA-sequencing techniques to fundamentally reshape how we understand the role of RNA processing in human cells. Kirsten also took the lead on publishing their work in a high-impact molecular biology journal, and independently learned the programming and quantitative skills required to analyze, interpret, and form hypothesis from large and complex data. Additionally, they were a Head Teaching Fellow for a 130 student undergraduate course, where they coordinated writing and grading of weekly problem sets and exams, created content for weekly discussion sections, and managed classroom conflicts. From 2013-2016, they were a Research Assistant at UNBC - University of Northern British Columbia, where they completed biochemical experiments that built on their independent undergraduate thesis project, and was able to publish this work as the first-author in a peer-reviewed journal. Kirsten also gained expertise in RNA biochemistry techniques, scientific writing, and project management, as well as experience as a Chemistry Tutor.
Kirsten Reimer has a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, which they obtained between 2016 and 2021. Kirsten also has a BSc Honours in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), which they obtained between 2011 and 2015. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from various institutions, including the Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning, Yale Environmental Health and Safety, Yale Office of Cooperative Research, and CITI Program, A Division of BRANY.
