John Jostes

John Jostes, P.G., is a highly experienced geologist specializing in petroleum geology with a robust background in carbon sequestration and operations within the oil and gas industry. Currently serving as Project Director at SCS Engineers since February 2024, John leads a team focused on carbon sequestration and deep well injection. Previously, John held the position of Operations Geologist at ExxonMobil, where responsibilities included planning well pairs for the Low Carbon Solutions Team. John's extensive tenure at BP from May 2011 to January 2021 involved significant roles, including Senior Geologist for the Deepwater GoM, where five successful drilling operations were executed with minimal non-productive time, and leading a subsurface description initiative for the Polvo Field. Earlier experience at Devon Energy encompassed contributions to the development of offshore Brazil's Polvo Field and participation in a significant Russian joint-venture project. John holds a Master's degree in Petroleum Geology from Baylor University.
