Madeline Banyas has a diverse range of work experience. Madeline started their career at Athens Land Trust, Inc. as a Williams Farm Intern, where they practiced organic and sustainable farming methods and led volunteers in daily farm tasks. Madeline then worked as a Laboratory Assistant at The University of Georgia, where they assisted graduate students with soil sample collection and analysis. Madeline also conducted independent research on coral bleaching in Key Largo, Florida. Madeline gained field experience as a Field Assistant at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, conducting site reconnaissance and collecting fossils and rock samples. Madeline interned with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the Invasive Species Strike Team, where they restored native prairie and wetland ecosystems and performed vegetation surveys. Madeline also worked as an Environmental Compliance Specialist at the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, ensuring compliance with the Clean Water Act. Most recently, Madeline has been working at SCS Global Services as a Program Coordinator and Technical Specialist, focusing on sustainable seafood chain of custody and leading audits.
Madeline Banyas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology from The University of Georgia. Madeline has also obtained certifications in Wetland Delineation & Regional Supplement Training from The Swamp School, LLC in 2019 and in Fundamental Hydric Soils from Soil Hub LLC.
