Sumit Kumar

Sumit Kumar has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Sumit is currently the Executive Director of CMC / Tech Ops at SCYNEXIS, Inc. since March 2023. Prior to that, they were the Head of CMC / Tech Ops at Valo from September 2021 to February 2023. Sumit also worked at Bristol Myers Squibb, where they held various positions including Associate Director, Senior Principal Scientist, Principal Scientist, and Senior Scientist. During their time at Bristol Myers Squibb, they led interdisciplinary technical/CMC teams, developed technical strategies, and managed the product lifecycle. Sumit also has experience in product development, managing CMOs, and implementing enabling technologies such as nano and amorphous dispersion. Before joining Bristol Myers Squibb, Sumit worked at Celgene as a Senior Scientist and Scientist II, and at Allergan as a Product/Formulation Scientist. Sumit started their career as a Research Scholar at the University of Connecticut, Southern Illinois University, and Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research. Sumit also gained industry experience as a Summer Intern at Boehringer Ingelheim.

Sumit Kumar obtained their Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm.) from Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR) in the years 2001-2005. Sumit then pursued a Master of Science degree (MS) in Pharmacology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale from 2006 to 2009. Subsequently, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutics at the University of Connecticut between 2009 and 2013.
