Larry Kaplan

President & CEO at SDVI

Larry Kaplan is the current President & CEO at SDVI. Larry has over forty years of experience in the broadcast and telecommunications industry, including founding and leading Omneon, Inc. for twelve years.

Kaplan began their career in 1974 at Tektronix, Inc., where they spent eighteen years in various leadership roles. In 1995, they joined Sony Electronics Professional Solutions of America as Senior Vice President. Larry was responsible for Sony Broadcast, which supplied video servers to broadcasters around the world.

In 1998, Kaplan founded Omneon, Inc., a leading supplier of broadcast video servers backed by venture firms Accel, Norwest, ATVentures, Meritech, Intel & Invesco. The company was sold to Harmonic, Inc. in September, 2010 for $307M.

After the sale of Omneon, Kaplan served as an advisor to the CEO of Harmonic, Inc. from September 2010 to November 2012. Larry then joined SDVI as President & CEO in November 2012.

Larry Kaplan has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Rutgers Business School and a BSEE from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Larry specializes in marketing/marketing management and electrical, electronics and communications engineering.

Some direct reports include Simon Eldridge - Chief Product Officer, Tom Evans - VP, EMEA, and Erik Hellwig - CFO.
