Kyle Staples has a strong background in maritime operations, with experience in various roles and responsibilities. Kyle started their career at Overseas Shipholding Group as a Second Mate, where they were responsible for load/discharge plans and executing them safely and efficiently. Kyle also oversaw preventative maintenance using ABS certified NS5 and was in charge of crude oil washing and inert gas systems. Later, they joined Hornbeck Offshore as a Second Mate and Dynamic Position Officer, where they managed navigational watches and oversaw all operations while in port, including maintenance, fueling, cargo, and stores. Kyle then moved to Seabulk, where they served as a Third Mate, responsible for inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire fighting and safety equipment, as well as safe navigation and cargo watches. Kyle later became a Second Mate, PIC, designated Navigation Officer, and was responsible for sea and port passage plans at Seabulk's Tankers division. Currently, Kyle is working as a Chief Mate at Seabulk, utilizing their skills and experience to contribute to the company's success. Throughout their career, Kyle has demonstrated strong leadership abilities, sound boat handling skills, and a focus on safety and efficiency.
Kyle Staples attended Maine Maritime Academy from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Kyle has also obtained various certifications, including Chief Mate from the U.S. Coast Guard in March 2021. Kyle has additional certifications from the U.S. Coast Guard, such as 1600 Ton Master, 2nd Mate Unlimited Tonnage Upon All Oceans, Pilot of Towing (TOAR), and Tankerman PIC. Kyle also holds a DPO Unlimited certification from The Nautical Institute.
