Marcel Wieggers

Marcel Wieggers has extensive work experience in the oil and gas industry. Marcel began their career in 1998 at Noble Drilling, starting as a Roustabout and eventually progressing to the role of Toolpusher before leaving in 2008. Marcel then worked at Stena Drilling as a Toolpusher for several months in 2008. In 2009, they joined Larsen Oil and Gas Pte Ltd as a Toolpusher, involved in the construction of a 6th generation Semi-Submersible. In the same year, they also joined Seadrill as a DSL.

Throughout their time at Seadrill, Marcel held various positions including Rig Leader, Rig Manager, Head of Performance Enhancement, and Director of Operations in different regions such as Latin America South and Africa. Marcel then took on the role of VP Operations for the Eastern Hemisphere and later became VP Operations for Harsh Environment. In 2022, they were promoted to the role of VP Operations for Floaters/Harsh Environment. By the end of 2023, they were appointed as Senior Vice President of Operations at Seadrill.

Marcel Wieggers completed a B-Eng degree in Drilling & Production Technology at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 1993 to 1998. In 2017, they attended the London Business School and completed an Accelerated Development Program. In 2020, Marcel attended an Advanced Management Program at IMD.
