Matthew Bonvento

Matthew Bonvento is an accomplished maritime professional with extensive experience in nautical science education and maritime operations. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the United States Merchant Marine Academy since May 2018, Matthew has previously held the position of Assistant Professor and has been the CEO of Good Wind Maritime Services since April 2015, focusing on the training and support of mariners. As an Instructor at Sea School since May 2012, Matthew teaches essential seamanship and navigation skills. Previously, Matthew was a Senior Manager at Vanuatu Maritime Services Ltd, overseeing safety inspections and regulatory compliance. Matthew began the maritime career as a Deck Officer at American Maritime Officers, advancing to Chief Officer. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in International Transportation Management and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation from the State University of New York Maritime College, complemented by an Associate degree in Marine Technology from Mount West Community College.
