Efrat Hurvitz

Efrat Hurvitz, SHRM-SCP, has a wealth of experience in human resources and organizational development. Efrat is currently serving as the Senior Director of People and Culture at the Seattle Aquarium. In this role, they oversee the human resources function and works to create a supportive and inclusive organizational culture.

Prior to their current position, Efrat held the role of Chief Human Resources Officer at the Seattle Humane. During their time there, they led and managed the HR function, as well as the Volunteer Services and DEI teams. Efrat played a key role in strategic change processes and policy decisions, while also fostering an inclusive and compassionate organizational culture.

Before their time at the Seattle Humane, Efrat worked as an HR Consultant and business partner at 501 Commons, providing full-cycle HR services to non-profit organizations. Efrat served as a trusted advisor to leadership teams and delivered transactional and strategic level services.

Efrat also has experience in the Israel Defense Forces, where they served as an HR Manager and organizational consultant. Additionally, they worked as an HR Manager at Extent Technologies Inc. and as a Recruitment Associate at Cellcom, where they played a role in shaping HR policies for the emerging corporation.

Efrat Hurvitz, SHRM-SCP, has a diverse education history. In 1989 to 1992, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology with Honors at the University of Haifa. Following this, from 2001 to 2003, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Psychology, once again at the University of Haifa. Efrat continued their academic journey by obtaining a post MA degree in Organizational Consulting from the University of Haifa between 2005 and 2007. In 2014, they expanded their knowledge with a Certificate in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from the University of Washington. Additionally, Efrat holds certifications such as Dare to Lead Trained, obtained in September 2021 from Dare to Lead™ Trained, and the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation, which they achieved in January 2018 from SHRM. Furthermore, they received a certification in Non Profit Management in September 2014 through UW Professional & Continuing Education.
